Made By PhonoComp
Recorded 1 April 1961 at the Vienna State Opera. The discs state A Hunt Production ℗ 1990 Made in Italy by Phono Comp. This is consistent with the PHC after the matrix numbers. The back cover states New digital remastering Hunt Productions ℗ 1990 Manufactured in Italy by Phono Comp spa Italy.
The set may not be all Karajan conducting, as Jonathan Brown notes in his Parsifal on Record (Greenwood Press, 1992), p. 36: In the first scene, from Gurnemanz's opening lines 'He! Ho!' to Kundry's dismissal of Amfortas ('Fort, fort - ins Bad!'), the voices of Gurnemanz and Kundry appear to be those of Jerome Hines and Martha Mödl; the scene is possibly taken from a performance at Bayreuth conducted by Hans Knappertsbusch. The credits do not actually include Herbert von Karajan as conductor, though it is implied by the KARAJAN beneath the graphic on the front and back covers. Brown also mentions that Karajan's assistant in 1961, Dr Richard Bletschacher, had informed him that Karajan chose two Kundries for theatrical effect, and explains why. The credits with the set incorrectly give both Christa Ludwig and Elisabeth Höngen as singers of Kundry in Act 2.
