This 2012 album is spearheaded by Drew Schultz, former drummer and musical director for the Four Tops. This album was released as Schultz was leaving the Tops to finish his college degree, and 50% of the profits from the sale of the recordings benefit the Detroit Public Schools music programs. The album features many of the classic Detroit soul artists that Drew worked with and learned from. The combination of all of the above is what lead to the concept and title of the record.

Ken Knox, Thomas Hunter, and Richard Figueroa were performing in 2012, the year of this record's release, as Chairmen of the Board after the death of General Johnson. Knox has been a member of Chairmen of the Board since the 70s. As of 2019 the Chairmen of the Board name is carried on officially by Ken Knox, Thomas Hunter, and Brandon Stevens.
