The first recording of Handel's complete opera score, additional excerpts by Bononcini.
The celebrated rivalry between Handel and Giovanni Bononcini culminated at Covent Garden in 1721 when each composed composed an act for a new opera: MUZIO SCEVOLA. The public was to serve as judge. Handel's work, heard here in a premiere recording assembled by John Ostendorf, won hands down!
