Premiere release of the score to Akira Kurosawa's Dodesukaden, A.K.A. Dodes'ka-den (October 31, 1970 [Pre-release] January 21, 1971 [General Release]). Sold as part of the Akira Kurosawa Film Music Complete Records: Last Volume (A.K.A.: Film Music of Akira Kurosawa The Complete Edition Vol. 3) box set and on its own. Bonus tracks include alternate versions of selected cues and stereo cues likely recorded during the original recording session. Music composed by Toru Takemitsu, conducted by Akihiro Komori and recorded/mixed by Shunsuke Wakabayashi. All music is in mono except for tracks 21 - 27, which are in stereo.

The score was recorded on July 12, 1970 at the Toho Recording Center. Recording began at 10:00 AM and concluded at 5:00 PM.

NOTE: Some booklets provided with this album list 27 tracks with the track list and track-by-track commentary, while other booklets omit the final seven tracks, listing only 20 tracks with both the track list and the track-by-track commentary. Regardless of which booklet a particular copy comes with, the discs themselves are unaffected and contain all 27 tracks.
