Ph.D. Marcin Gawdzis – born December 20, 1972, jazz trumpeter, teacher, composer and arranger, jazz trumpet lecturer at the Faculty of Conducting, Jazz and Music Education, Academy of Music. In 1993 and 1995, together with the bands THE SIMILARS and JOINT VENTURE, he won 1st place and individual awards at the Jazz Juniors festival in Krakow. In 1994, he won 4th place at the International Jazz Improvisation Competition in Katowice. During his studies, he recorded solo trumpet parts with pop artists, including: with: KAYAH, RENI JUSIS, NATALIA KUKULSKA, MIETEK SZCZESNIAK, F.N.S, NOCNA ZMIANIA BLUES and KRZYSZTOF KRAWCZYK. He has performed in almost all European countries. He has participated in the recording of 28 albums by various artists, creating in various styles of pop music. He has created three solo band albums and produced an original album by his quintet. Many musicians with whom he collaborated include: Eric Allen, Jerry Goodman, Maria Schneider, prof. Andrzej Zubek, prof. Piotr Kusiewicz, Jonatan Rautio, Garry Guthman, Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski, Henryk Miśkiewicz, Leszek Możdżer, Maciej Sikała, Piotr Wojtasik, Grzegorz Nagórski, Jacek and Wojciech Niedziela, Zbigniew and Jacek Namysłowski, Krystyna Stańko, Krystyna Prońko, Anna Serafińska, Piotr Lemańczyk, Dominik Bukowski, Przemek Dyakowski, Emil Kowalski, Adam Wendt, Józef Eliasz, Bohdan Hołownia, Jarosław Śmietana, Tomek Sowiński, Cezary Konrad, Marek Napiórkowski, Karol Szymanowski, Piotr Biskupski, Krzysztof Przybyłowicz, Zbigniew Wrombel, Piotr Olszewski, Krzysztof Herdzin and many others.
In 2003, he received an individual award for the best instrumentalist at the Jazz – Rock Festival in Olsztyn. Also this year, he began cooperation with the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. In 2012, for the album he co-created, Projekt Elbląg, he received the award of the Mayor of Elbląg in the event of the year category.
