UK based music journalist and archivist, aka Fred Fact. Initially he worked as a freelance journalist for the New Musical Express in 1972 but has since written for Smash Hits, Vox and Loaded, also briefly editing a country music magazine Up Country. Author or co-author of several books, he has additionally contributed music and film crosswords to numerous publications. Since 1996 he was mainly been employed at Mojo, fashioning the Time Machine, Enlightenment and Ask Fred pages. He has also provided sleeve notes for many records. He died 15 May 2021 at the age of 89.
