Born : February 11, 1882 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Died : September 11, 1971 in Tacoma, Washington State.

Among his compositions to remember : Lovie Joe, Salome's Dance, That Teasin' Rag, Dat's Ma Honey Sho's Yo' Bom, Oh Say Wouldn't It Be A Dream, Brother-in-Law Dan.
In 1928 he led a band formed among others by : Jabbo Smith, Garvin Bushell, James P. Johnson, Thomas Fats Waller.
Played also fiddle and percussion.
