1969-1976 - Worked for RCA Studios, Toronto. Joined at age 19 and by the time he left was RCA’s Chief Engineer.
1977-1985 - Worked at Manta Sound in Toronto, eventually promoted to Chief Engineer.
1985-1992 - Worked at McClear Place as Chief Engineer, promoted to Vice President and General Manager ca. 1989.
1993-2003 - Worked at Solar Audio Recording in Halifax, Nova Scotia and formed both Hands On Productions Music House and Solar Audio Productions
2003-2006 - Formed Wingit Studios in Atlantic Canada.
2006-present - Formed St. Cecilia Studios in Halifax.
Most notably, Hayward engineered the single Tears are not Enough in aid of famine relief in Ethiopia.
