Billy Darnell / Bill Darnell

Main image

American multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and producer.
Born in Michigan and raised in the San Fernando Valley.

Not to be confused with singer/music executive Bill Darnel.

Darnell's main instrument is the guitar, but he's also been known to play the mandolin, piano, bass, and more. He is currently in The Jangle Brothers with John York and Chad Watson. He played guitar for the Gene Clark Byrds, The Everly Brothers, Dr. John, Doug Kershaw, and Roger McGuinn.
Before joining Dewey Martin And Medicine Ball in 1968 Darnell worked with a Hollywood band called The Orphans and played a couple of local dates with Albert King. His other notable achievement was doing session work for Dave Allen & The Arrows. Darnell would ultimately become Medicine Ball’s longest serving member and would continue to work with Dewey Martin, on and off, over the next thirty years.
Darnell and singer/songwriter/guitarist Ray Chafin (who was briefly with Darnell in Medicine Ball) founded the country-rock band Electric Range in the early ’90s.
