Vaggelis Paraskevaidis is a jazz vibraphonist born in Athens, Greece.
He started piano lessons at a very young age but he quickly realized that
he wanted to learn the drums.
A large portion of his puberty was spent on listening to all kinds of
music. He started his formal studies on the vibraphone , while drumming
onstage with punk rock bands. It was this period where he discovered his
interest in jazz and improvisation.
He graduated from Salford University (UK) as a assemble/concert
percussionist.
He had the fortune to be taught by great masters such as David Friedman,
Robert Fripp, David Liebman, Gary Barton, Michael Gibbs,and Bob Moses.
He has collaborated, through recording studios and/or on stage with many
Greek artists, from jazz trios, to modern songwriters and to Classical
Orchestras, such as the Camerata.
His first solo album INDOLES is soon to be released on IKAROS RECORDS,and
it features some of the most prominent musicians in the Greek Jazz
scene. “INDOLES”
is a collection of his original compositions, performed by some of the
best jazz musicians in Greece
