American soprano (born July 20, 1875 in Kokomo, Indiana – died December 1971 in Cuyahoga, Ohio).
Born Elizabeth Nicholson, Elizabeth Wheeler married fellow singer
William Wheeler in 1904. Both formed what has been described as the most successful husband and wife duet pair in the history of the phonograph, recording numerous duets between ca. 1906 and 1917.
Apart from that, Elizabeth Wheeler had a very successful solo career, singing everything from pop to religious hymns. She also recorded with
Harry Macdonough and
Marguerite Dunlap and as part of the
Victor Light Opera Company.
