US vocal group from the New Jersey area who were all prison convicts. Active from the early 1970s through to the 1980s. The original group was made up of seven singers; Reginald Haynes, Lawrence Franklin, Robert Arrington, William Dugger, Stephen Carter, Frank Heard, and Marion Murphy. They were all incarcerated at New Jersey’s Rahway State Prison when producer
George Kerr somehow gained permission to bring recording equipment into the prison and recorded their vocals.
The current discography does not list all recordings e.g. The Sho-Nuff is still missing as a 7 single.
