British audio and mastering engineer, active in England and Canada, mainly in the 1960s and 1970s. In England he worked at [l217694] (1967-1968), [l218698] (1968-1969), [l264470] (1969-1975), and [l291215], with many notable artists such as The Beatles, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, The Hollies, Yehudi Menuhin, The London Symphony Orchestra (LSO), Cliff Richard & The Shadows, John's Children, Stealers Wheel, Jack Jones, Mark Wirtz, and Nicky Hopkins. Engineers he worked with include Geoff Emerick, Malcolm Davies, Eddie Klein and George Peckham.

In 1975 Smith moved to Canada and worked at [l288632], and for [l140139] (CBC) as an engineer. In 1996 he left the CBC and moved to British Columbia where he formed a company called Reminisce that, in a video format, told peoples life stories.
