He graduated from music school at the Leningrad State Conservatory, then Leningrad Conservatory (1961). During period of study was accepted (by the competition) as choirmaster, conductor of Petrozavodsk Musical Theatre (1959). After graduate school at Moscow State Conservatory faculty of opera and symphony conducting (class of Professor L. Ginzburg) was conductor of the Moscow Operetta Theater (1962-67).
