Best known for his extensive arrangement work with Mercury Records artists like Sarah Vaughan, Dinah Washington and Billy May, from the mid-1950s to the late 1960s. He never charted as a songwriter but did as an arranger with songs such as I Put a Spell on You by Nina Simone and as conductor of the orchestras on charted songs such as Kay Starr’s Good And Lonesome. There weren’t just a few of these but many. He was especailly fond of lush string arangements for artists such as Sarah Vaughn.
