Swedish jazz drummer, born 1928 in Hässleholm, died June 2010.
He started in the 50s in Ove Halls orkester and in 1960 and 1961, as a member of Jan Johanssons Trio, he won Orkesterjournalen's Golden Disc. The trio also included bass player Gunnar Johnson. The collaboration with Jan Johansson and Gunnar Johnson had already begun a few years earlier by Ingvar Callmer in the acclaimed band Gunnar Johnson Quintet with, among others, the saxophonist Erik Norström.
Other great jazz artists with whom Ingvar Callmer has played are Stan Getz, Gunnar Siljabloo Nilsson and the singer Sonya Hedenbratt. Ingvar Callmer was also a member of
Malte Johnsons Orkester in Gothenburg for a period.
