Wolfgang Burger was born in Oberwihl in the southern Black Forest in 1952 and grew up in Bad Säckingen. He studied electrical engineering and medical technology and worked for a long time as a measurement engineer. After his doctorate, he headed a research laboratory. The author has been writing on the side since the mid-1990s, initially as a hobby. His first works included satirical short stories, later he shifted to crime novels. His first novel was published in 1998. He is married to the author Hilde Artmeier, with whom he also writes together. He has three children and lives and works in Karlsruhe and Regensburg.
